The Douglas Glen fire station is based on the new City of Calgary and Calgary Fired Department deployment model which addresses reduced response time, quicker turnout time and fully electronic alerting and notification elocution.
This 1,580 square meter facility consists of three apparatus bays including Calgary’s first dedicated Fire Investigation Bay which is located in a secured area with specialized equipment and tools. A separate office for Community and Neighborhood Services is also included.
Specialized electrical systems include fire fighter notification and vehicle de-icing systems. additionally, the entire facility is backed up with a bi-fuel generator.
This project was designed and built to LEED® Gold standards and was designed to provide 100% capacity for community crisis management.
