Chris grew up in Taber Alberta and graduated W.R. Myers High school in 1993. That's right, he is that old. He enrolled in the Electrical Engineering Technology program at SAIT and graduated in 1997. He was hired at SMP (then SRA) just a few months prior to his graduation so the transition from student to career was pretty seamless.
Chris worked at SRA for about 6 years learning the ropes as a Jr. Designer when he got the opportunity to work in the sub-tropical island of Bermuda. He worked for the Works and Engineering office at the Bermudian government for 9.5 years as an Electrical Engineering Assistant for the Ministry of Works and Engineering Dept. He was responsible for doing the design and creating the contract docs, submitting it for tender, awarding the successful contractor, developing the contract and then issuing the payment certificates and doing site reviews till substantial completion.
The workflow was not so much a flow but rather a work dribble with very long pauses. To say island life is slow is quite an understatement but he did enjoy his time on the island. After 9.5 years on island they finally decided he had enough time there and they didn't renew his contract and he returned to Calgary in 2013.
Chris moved back from Bermuda to Calgary in 2013. His wife Nicole followed him that year and they now have two boys, Max and Logan. He upgraded his C.E.T. designation to his P.Tech Eng in 2015, moved to APEGA to get his P.L.(Eng.) in 2018, and was promoted in 2019 to the position of Associate.
