Chris grew up in Taber, Alberta, and graduated from the Electrical Engineering Technology program at SAIT in 1997. He was hired at SMP, just a few months before graduating, making for a seamless move from student to career.
After about six years learning the ropes as a Junior Designer, Chris took the opportunity to work abroad, spending 9.5 years with the Bermudian government's Ministry of Works and Engineering as an Electrical Engineering Assistant. There he handled projects end to end: design and contract documents, tendering and awarding work, administering contracts, issuing payment certificates, and conducting site reviews through to substantial completion.
Chris returned to Calgary in 2013, where he and his wife, Nicole, are now raising their two boys, Max and Logan. He has continued to advance his credentials along the way, upgrading his C.E.T. to a P.Tech.(Eng.) in 2015, earning his P.L.(Eng.) through APEGA in 2018, and being promoted to Associate in 2019.
