Ashok Alex brings over three decades of electrical engineering experience to SMP Engineering, blending technical expertise with a calm, collaborative approach that clients and teammates appreciate. Since joining SMP in 2018 and becoming an Associate in 2021, he has worked on a wide range of projects — from healthcare and higher education to industrial facilities, mixed-use towers, and remote northern infrastructure.

Ashok is a licensed Professional Engineer and an active member of APEGA, NAPEG, Engineers Yukon, CaGBC, IEEE, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK). As a LEED® Accredited Professional, sustainability is an integral part of how he designs and problem-solves.

Known for his reliability, thoughtful planning, and steady leadership, Ashok thrives in Integrated Project Delivery environments, where he excels at bringing teams together, aligning design decisions with project goals, and supporting continuous improvement.

Beyond engineering, Ashok has a lifelong love of cricket — having played at competitive levels in his youth and continuing to play community cricket in Edmonton. He values ongoing learning, enjoys staying active, and finds balance through swimming, fitness, and spending time with family.
