SMP Engineering designed innovative lighting for Urban Systems' Calgary office, blending heritage architecture with modern amenities in a 1916 building for an enhanced workspace experience.
Urban Systems' new Calgary office, located in a 1916 heritage building, combines contemporary interior finishes and amenities with exposed heritage structural surroundings. The lighting design consisted of suspended linear elements and open office areas with discreetly hidden downlighting through suspended grid ceilings. Guests are greeted by a two-storey atrium that showcases the building’s architectural heritage in exposed beams and walls, and employees relish the amenities of the central “main street” gathering spaces rhythmically illuminated by suspended tube luminaires.
