SMP's electrical engineering modernized Banff's 1964 Voyager Inn, transforming it into the vibrant Moxy Banff hotel with updated systems and enhanced guest experiences.
Originally built in 1964 as Banff’s first commercial motor hotel, the Voyager Inn has been reimagined as Moxy Banff, a boutique hotel under Marriott’s MOXY brand. The renovation modernizes the space while preserving its architectural character, drawing inspiration from the Rocky Mountain setting and Banff’s vibrant culture.
SMP provided electrical engineering services for the complete transformation of the hotel. The project included upgrading the electrical infrastructure to support reconfigured guestrooms and a new standalone building, increasing capacity to 111 rooms. The revitalized space features an open lounge and bar, conference facilities, a bike/ski workshop, and a fitness area. A new rooftop social hub includes a spa, outdoor patio, and activity space, while the basement houses an indoor spa and change rooms.
By integrating modern electrical solutions into a heritage structure, SMP helped bring new life to this Banff landmark, creating a dynamic hospitality experience for visitors and locals alike.
