
Located in the community of Coventry Hills, the newly constructed $70.5M North Trail High School can accommodate up to 1,800 grade 10-12 students within the 16,224 m2 facility. Rooted in an area with significant indigenous history, the school has been designed to incorporate architectural elements and lighting that represent indigenous culture. To align with sustainable practices, the project also features a roof-mounted solar array with a capacity of 300kW, and Level 2 Electric Vehicle charging stations were provided in the parking lot.
SMP’s project scope included lighting, power, data/voice, PA, fire alarm & security and CCTV design for multiple classrooms, multipurpose lab classrooms, pre-engineering, sports medicine, fitness, main and auxiliary gymnasiums, admin area, large gathering spaces, dance/yoga space, culinary kitchen, theatre and drama space, band room, CTS classrooms, large automotive and woodshop, science labs, art room, computer labs, learning commons, digital media, natural sciences, and mechanical, electrical and communications rooms to support these spaces.
