SMP Engineering provided electrical engineering consulting services for the University of Alberta's Research and Collections Resource Facility (RCRF), a high-density library storage facility with environmentally controlled storage spaces and special LED lighting, achieving Green Globes 3 certification.
The University of Alberta Research and Collections Resource Facility (RCRF) is a high-density library storage facility that houses less frequently accessed library materials, research collections, and the University of Alberta Archives. Main design considerations included environmentally controlled storage spaces and special LED lighting to ensure preservation for the Archives' and Libraries’ collections. The facility also includes a bookable reading room and multipurpose room for student and faculty use. The project achieved a Green Globes 3 certification.
