SMP Engineering's lightSPACE studio designed custom lighting for Banff's Three Bears Brewery, enhancing its nature-inspired decor and open-concept layout with retractable skylight.
This new, two-storey brew house is situated right off the main strip of Banff Avenue and is part of a new trend to revitalize Bear Street. Embracing its location within Canada’s oldest National Park, the space houses an open-concept main floor brewery and mezzanine kitchen both bathed under the natural light provided by a retractable skylight. The interiors, wrapped in warm wooden tones, feature park regulars: wildlife statuettes, plant life, and a full-height tree at the centre.
Working with the Design and Architecture teams, SMP’s lightSPACE studio provided guidance for the custom lighting fixtures throughout and an inconspicuous lighting design serving to support the open-concept themes, enhancing the finishes and providing for unencumbered appreciation of the nighttime sky and the surrounding natural world.
