
SMP Engineering upgraded Whitehorn LRT Station's electrical systems, enhancing safety, communication, and lighting to highlight unique architecture and improve passenger experience.
Electrical scope of work for the Whitehorn LRT project included new lighting throughout station and platform, new life safety (exit lighting, emergency lighting, and fire alarm) for station and platform, new standby power generator system, revised power distribution system, additional communications (data/voice), and new electrical for new and extended platforms including lighting, help phones, TVM (ticket vending machines), power and data, and platform grounding.
The lighting of the facility emphasizes and highlights the unique architecture and structure of the facility and creates a focal point of interest in the area. Lighting for the LRT platform was initially designed utilizing HID (metal halide) lamp sources.
