SMP Engineering contributed to Vancouver's Teck Acute Care Centre, a LEED Gold certified hospital featuring patient-centered design with single rooms and natural light for improved healing.
This newly constructed $676M, 60,000m2, nine-storey hospital represents the second phase of the BC Children’s and BC Women’s Redevelopment project, which was designed to deliver a patient and family-centred healing environment.
The design emphasized single-occupancy patient rooms, noise reduction features, and access to natural light and views of nature, resulting in an improved healing environment. The project achieved LEED Gold certification.
