Eighth Street SW

The Eighth Street SW Revitalization project began with the double underpass below a railway corridor and a perpendicular roadway. The core goals of the project were to enliven the streetscape with a unique design, while also increasing the public sense of security and safety throughout this traditionally dark pathway.

Utilizing linear LED luminaires for the roadway illumination, as well as vertical accent features, the design team was able to eliminate the need for a traditional pole-mounted area light between the bridges. The addition of custom railings with integrated linear LEDs and column lights revitalized access to our City’s downtown core and brought an inviting pedestrian scale to the area, encouraging higher foot-traffic volume.
