SMP Engineering renovated Lethbridge's Yates Memorial Centre and Sterndale Bennett Theatre, upgrading lighting, A/V systems, and accessibility features for enhanced performing arts experiences.
The Genevieve E. Yates Memorial Centre in Lethbridge, AB, is a performing arts centre originally built in 1966. This $13.96M renovation addressed many operating components that had reached end-of-life, including upgrades to security, audio visual systems, and complete theatre lighting systems, including motorized stage hoists. The theatre lighting upgrade for both the Yates and Sterndale Bennett Theatres involved green room lighting, auditorium lighting, and stage lighting. In addition, the building received an updated sprinkler system, A/V system with state-of-the-art sound boards, exterior display screens for upcoming productions, lighting control panels, and new accessibility additions, including elevators, automatic door operators, and barrier-free washrooms.
