Red Deer Justice Centre

The new Red Deer Justice Centre (RDJC) was established to replace the outdated facility built in 1982, which no longer met the growing demands for justice services in Red Deer and Central Alberta. This modern regional court facility delivers comprehensive legal services, housing both the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the Provincial Court, handling Civil, Criminal, Traffic, Family, and Youth cases. The RDJC includes 12 state-of-the-art courtrooms—an increase from the previous seven—with infrastructure designed to expand to 16 courtrooms as needed. Additionally, the centre features a dedicated Resolution Support Centre for dispute resolution, civil and family mediation, arbitration, and other alternatives to traditional court proceedings.

Spanning 312,000 ft², the RDJC provides ample space for judicial operations and public access. Reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability, the building is designed to meet LEED Silver certification standards, incorporating advanced energy efficiency and sustainable materials. The RDJC represents a significant advancement in the delivery of justice services, improving access, efficiency, and support for the residents of Red Deer and Central Alberta.
