SMP Engineering designed sustainable electrical systems for Calgary's first pediatric mental health hospital, featuring outpatient programs and LEED Silver certification for community-integrated care.
Calgary's first pediatric mental health hospital houses three new outpatient programs, including Walk-In Services, Day Hospital, and Intensive Community Treatment Services (ICTS).
A model for sustainability, this new 3,200 m² facility employs passive systems, a high-performance building envelope, and efficient and integrated building systems in order to achieve LEED Silver certification, minimizing environmental impact, energy and resource consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions. It will take advantage of and integrate with the community and neighbourhood.
SMP’s scope of work included lighting, lighting control, site lighting, communications, security and access controls, intrusion and CCTV, emergency call system, and power distribution, which required services from the old building to the new.
