Thelma Chalifoux School in Edmonton is a state-of-the-art facility for 900 grades 7-9 students, featuring 21st century learning spaces and sustainable design targeting LEED Silver certification."
Located in the established community of Larkspur in Edmonton, the Thelma Chalifoux School can accommodate up to 900 students in grades 7 to 9. Designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, this project integrated many sustainable initiatives, including strategic lighting design to minimize power consumption and onsite power generation through solar photovoltaic (PV) design. The solar PV system was designed around Alberta Learning parameters that create learning opportunities for students. The project’s development through an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) approach allowed for a collaborative process with the design team, resulting in better planning, scheduling, accountability, and creativity.
