SMP Charity Mini-Putt: It's More than Golf

SMP Engineering's Mini-Putt event raises funds for local Alberta charities

In 2001, SMP launched the biennial mini-putt event with the primary goal of fostering industry networking while raising funds for charitable causes. Funds are raised at the mini-putt event through player and non-player registrations, draw for raffle prizes, 50 / 50 draw, “pay-to-play” ring toss game, golf hole sponsorships, and larger sponsorship opportunities, such as food and bar sponsors.

Over the years, the event’s scope has expanded to benefit carefully selected charitable organizations based in Alberta. SMP takes pride in ensuring that all proceeds raised go directly to our chosen charities.

In 2022, the SMP team experienced the unfortunate loss of a staff member, Will Jones. His family approached us to consider supporting Wood’s Homes, a charity close to them. Wood’s Homes, located in Calgary and Lethbridge, is dedicated to providing treatment and support for children, youth, and families with mental health needs.

In 2022 we proudly raised $35,885.30 for Wood's Homes in Will's memory. Our partnership doesn't end here and SMP will be supporting Wood's Homes through various volunteering opportunities until 2024 when we select a new organization to support for our mini-putt tournament.
