Unique to Waterton Lakes National Park, the newly constructed year-round interpretive centre features interactive educational exhibits and visitor information services. The landmark structure in the heart of town consists of three buildings with distinct uses, connected by a single roof: the main interpretive centre, an office building for Parks Canada staff, and a public washroom building with exterior entrances. Outside the building is a large plaza surrounded by native vegetation, designed to integrate with the surrounding landscape and focus attention on nearby Vimy Peak. The building itself was designed to create connections to outdoor spaces, featuring natural stone on the walls and a wood-clad ceiling surrounded by glass curtain walls to showcase the beauty of the Rocky Mountain setting. The facility achieved LEED Silver certification.
