- Lead project teams in designing electrical systems for various building facilities.

- Single line drawings
- Feeder sizing
- Panel and distribution board sizing

- Fault and voltage drop calculations
- Design systems for power distribution, lighting (indoor and outdoor), power generation, controls, life safety (e.g., fire alarm, public address, nurse call), voice/data communications, basic security/CCTV systems, and lighting calculations.

- Prepare drawings in AutoCAD / Revit.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional experience.
- Registered as C.E.T, P.Eng., P.L.(Eng.), P.Tech, or A.Sc.T (equivalent experience considered).
- Experience in commercial, retail, office, residential, and institutional projects (oil and gas experience not considered).
- Knowledge of provincial and federal electrical and building codes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Duties & Responsibilities
As a Contract Administrator, you will support the Edmonton project teams by:
Representing the client’s best interests in a fair and reasonable manner by coordinating design intent and drawing specifications with the electrical contractor on the Engineer’s behalf.
- Issuing changes, site instructions, RFIs, and other documentation as required to address client demands and on-site challenges.
- Providing technical expertise to review on-site construction from a design perspective and identifying any instances that contravene the Canadian Electrical Code, building code, fire code, or other applicable regulations.
- Reviewing shop drawings for accuracy and alignment with design intent.
- Attending scheduled site meetings to monitor and report on construction progress, including progress claims.
- Preparing and issuing field reports based on site reviews, as required.
- Reviewing and validating monthly progress claims and change pricing.
- Witnessing fire alarm verifications on the Engineer’s behalf and ensuring documentation accuracy.
- Reviewing record drawings and O&M manuals from the Electrical Contractor before submission to the owner.
- Monitoring contract administration hours for projects and reporting discrepancies to management.
- Making on-site design decisions and following up with necessary documentation.
- Documenting existing site conditions for design and/or reporting purposes.
- Installing recording meters and downloading results for engineer review and report generation.
This role may require extra or overtime work during peak periods.
Requirements
On your resume, we will be looking for the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience at the foreman level or 2 years of project management experience. Current knowledge of commercial electrical industry standards is preferred.
- 3 years of previous experience at an engineering firm is considered an asset.
- Electrical Journeyman certificate within Alberta or an interprovincial seal is required. A Master’s Certificate is considered an asset.
- Experience with large-scale, long-term projects (institutional projects are an asset).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit is an asset) and basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Bluebeam.
