The $221M MHRH redevelopment project involved constructing a state-of-the-art five-storey building and implementing extensive enhancements to the existing hospital and energy center. SMP's role encompassed delivering advanced electrical engineering services, including comprehensive upgrades to emergency and normal power distribution systems, as well as fire alarm and security systems. A significant aspect of the project was expanding the energy center to incorporate 15kV medium-voltage switchgear and two 2.5 MW emergency generators, addressing previous system limitations and ensuring reliable power for critical healthcare operations. Additional improvements involved replacing main 13.8kV and 600V distribution boards, motor control centers, generator controls, and VFDs, all executed while maintaining uninterrupted services for acute care buildings.

SMP collaborated closely with utilities, consultants, and sub-trades to facilitate seamless integration of new systems and played a pivotal role in the final commissioning process to ensure operational readiness. Achieving LEED Certification in 2019, the project incorporated advanced metering and load control through the Emergency Power Control System (EPCS), reducing energy costs and enhancing efficiency. This redevelopment underscores SMP's expertise in designing and implementing sophisticated electrical systems tailored to the demanding needs of complex healthcare environments.
