To help achieve Edmonton Airport’s goal of carbon neutral growth, a combined heat and power (CHP) cogeneration facility was installed adjacent the Edmonton Airport’s Central Utility Plant. The project’s initial target was to reduce the Edmonton Airports carbon footprint of scope 1and 2 CO2 emissions by approximately 9,000 tonnes per year — approximately 20% overall reduction). The project’s target was also to reduce utility costs (electricity and gas) by $1M dollars per year.
