Christine Meikle School provides education for grades 7 to 12 students who have moderate to severe developmental disabilities and learning, medical, and emotional needs. The original school facility was not designed to accommodate the specialized school program or the highly specialized equipment required to serve the students, which resulted in the need for a replacement school. The replacement school includes highly secure areas throughout the learning commons, a specialized indoor saltwater therapy pool, gymnasium, and accessible courtyard spaces.

The power and data requirements of the students at this school surpassed the typical design standards of the school board. Through site investigation and discussions with users, SMP determined that power and data layouts providing immense flexibility for students was essential. This would allow teachers to tailor each room to the needs of the students. Whether it was powering a mobile interactive whiteboard or charging a wheelchair for a medically fragile student, special consideration was given to providing electricity where needed within the building.
