St. Veronica is a K-6, two-storey Catholic elementary school located in Airdrie, AB, designed to accommodate 950 teachers and students. The building was also designed with the flexibility to add portable classrooms to meet future needs.

Designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, the electrical design contained many environmentally friendly features, including:

  • Enhanced measurement and verification through a detailed metering program
  • LED lighting throughout the building
  • Smart lighting controls, including daylight harvesting, dimming, and occupancy sensors
  • A 75kWDC solar photovoltaic system

To enhance the unique character of the main staircase, interesting angles, and double height spaces of the overall building, asymmetrical perimeter lighting was installed to accentuate architectural features. Triangular lighting fixtures of varying sizes were installed in the large student gathering areas to enhance the clean lines of the building and create a visually interesting and engaging space.
