The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Redevelopment (MHRH) project includes the construction of a new five-storey building and renovation and upgrades to the existing hospital and energy centre. In the new wing, six state-of-the art operating suites, post-anesthetic recovery, and surgical support were added, as well as a new surgical processing department to support these areas.

The new building also includes an ambulatory day medicine department and new oncology and renal clinics, as well as a maternal newborn clinic and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The renovation portion included major upgrades to the emergency and normal power distribution, as well as completed upgrades to the fire alarm and security systems. The redevelopment project achieved LEED certification in 2019.
